How it works
The pay you enter is first turned into a yearly amount using your hours, days and weeks, then divided back down into every other period. Monthly pay is always the yearly amount divided by 12.
All figures are gross: tax, social contributions, overtime and bonuses are not included, because they depend on your country and contract.
Formula
Yearly = hourly × hours per week × weeks Yearly = daily × days per week × weeks Yearly = weekly × weeks = monthly × 12 Hourly = yearly ÷ (hours per week × weeks)
Worked example
A salary of 52,000 a year, working 40 hours over 5 days for 52 weeks, is 4,333.33 a month, 1,000 a week, 200 a day and 25 an hour.
Questions people ask
Why isn’t a month exactly four weeks?
A year has 52 weeks and 12 months, so an average month is about 4.33 weeks. Multiplying weekly pay by 4 understates monthly pay.
